The Sun Inn of Bethlehem Today

oday the first
floor of the Inn, a living history museum, is an authentic architectural
restoration of the original building as it was when prominent leaders such
as Benjamin Franklin, Martha Washington, George Washington, John Adams,
Samuel Adams, Ethan Allen, Henry Laurens, Richard Lee, Marquis de Lafayette,
and many other distinguished notables visited. In a letter to his beloved
Abigail, John Adams called it, “the best Inn I ever saw.”
Now at the heart of lovely downtown historic Bethlehem, the Sun Inn,
continuing a tradition of hospitality, welcomes you. You are cordially
invited to stroll through our historic rooms and dine in one of the fine
dining rooms with their historical 18th century charm.
Guided tours recounting
the rich history of the Inn are available daily. Tours led by trained
guides, including student volunteers from local schools, offer visitors the
opportunity to explore domestic skills and gain an appreciation of 18th
century life in Bethlehem. Tours help visitors reflect on the ambiance of
the 18th century tavern as they are escorted through the Gaststube, bedroom
suite and old kitchen, a living history museum enriched by informed guides.
Second floor rooms house the dining and meeting
rooms for public and private parties. The landscaped courtyard extends the
colonial atmosphere for outdoor dining and festivals in warm weather.

The Inn is available for catered private parties. Call the Sun Inn office at
610-866-1758 or McCarthy's Fine Catering at 610-861-7631 ext. 16 for more information.
